Pediatric Chiropractic at Summit Chiropractic and Wellness
The first trauma in a baby’s life is birth, especially if interventions are necessary. A baby’s head, neck, and spine are often twisted and tugged during the birthing process. Issues don’t always appear at first, having your child checked as early as possible helps ensure they have the best possible start in life.
Dr. Simpson has a big heart for kids—our office is always child-friendly. When children need an adjustment, he loves knowing that it will help their development. It might help them sleep better at night, which means Mom and Dad will also sleep better! Nursing issues improve, and the child can play, run, or whatever, without pain, restriction, and loss of mobility.

Caring for Our Little Ones
Children are adjusted differently from adults. We only use gentle techniques. An infant or young child’s spine is not yet developed, so only a light pressure adjustment is necessary.
Newborn adjustments use about the amount of pressure applied to test the ripeness of a tomato. As the child grows, we adjust the pressure accordingly.
Dr. Simpson recommends you bring your child in shortly after they are born. He’ll check them to ensure their spine is aligned, and their nervous system is functioning correctly. When babies get adjusted, they sleep better, cry less often, and nurse better.
We want to ensure kids have the best chiropractic experience. There’s never any twisting, cracking, or popping. Older children may receive adjustment with the Activator® tool, which delivers a gentle thrust to the affected area. Most children love getting adjustments, because it makes them feel so good.
Keeping Children Healthy
Chiropractic care helps kids have a better functioning nervous system. As they grow, children have numerous developmental milestones, which makes a properly working nervous system especially important.
They also have lots of bumps and falls while learning to sit up, crawl, walk, run, and play. These may appear minor to us, but may affect a child’s well-being if not properly addressed.
Regularly checking their spines is a safe and gentle way to ensure your child is functioning at their best. Parents bring their children to see us with issues like
- Ear infections
- Latching difficulties
- Sleep issues
- Colic
- Constipation
- Immune system disorders
- Headaches
- Allergies/asthma
- Bedwetting
- Digestive problems
- Scoliosis and postural issues
- And more
